Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapith |
The Marris College of Hindustani Music, Lucknow was established in July 1926. Originally, it was knows as the All India College of Hindustani Music and the name of Hindustani Music and the name of Sir William Marris was associated with it about six months later. Efforts for the establishment of the College date back to the year 1917 when the scheme of establishing a school of Indian Music at Lucknow was presented by Rai Uma nath to the 2nd All-India Music Conference held at under the president ship of late His Highness the Nawab of Rampur, who supported the scheme, but unfortunately it did not find the favour of late Pandit Vishnu Narain Bhatkhande and late Raja Nawab Ali Khan, the two veteran leaders of Music in Northern India, as they were then busy establishing an All-India Academy of Hindustani Music at Delhi, the capital city of India.

The foundation stone of this beautiful building of Saturn shape was laid on 28th Feb., 1988 by the chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Hon. Late Veer Bahadur Singh. Indira Gandhi Planetarium was inaugurated on 8th May, 2003 by the Hon. Chief Minister of UP Ms. Mayawati. From 9th May 2003 Planetarium has been opened for public.

Uttar Pradesh government looks all set to built a la Taj Mahal in the State capital, as this is the only feeling that comes to one's mind after looking at the magnificent Ambedkar Memorial being built here at a whopping cost of seven billon rupees. The memorial park is to be opened for public on April 14 by the Chief Minister herself. Two fountains worth rupees 30 million (three crore rupees) have been installed along with nearly 3,000 elephants for a grand look. People will then remember that Ms. Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party's symbol happens to be the elephant.

Zoo |
The Zoo is located in the heart of the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. It is being managed as a Trust, by the Zoo Advisory Committee with Forest Secretary to the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh as Chairman, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Uttar Pradesh as Vice Chairman and Chief Wildlife Warden, Uttar Pradesh as Administrator. An officer of the rank of Deputy Conservator of Forests is posted as Director, for over all day-to-day management of the zoo.
The Central Zoo Authority, Govt. of India, categorizes the Lucknow Zoo as a large zoo. It has an area of 71.6 acres.
